Travel Tip For Today

Bring one pair of comfortable walking shoes as well as a pair of sandals or Tevas. Before you leave home, break in your new shoes so you're not uncomfortable on the road.

Off to the Waterslides! A Checklist

Theme Parks

Who knows why humans so love splashing around in water - diving, sliding, floating, swimming, etc.? But we do! And every year there are more waterslide parks and slides in theme parks to satisfy the desire. After talking with local waterslide fans, here's what seems to be required for a great day at the slides. First and foremost - friends!

1. Skin protection: Whatever the color of your skin, you need to be protected against the sun's rays. Remember that chlorine strips the natural protective oils and fluids from your skin. Replenish often. Take lots of highly protective sunscreen. And use it often.

2. More sun protection: Hat and cover-ups. When you aren't in the water, wear a hat and loose comfortable clothing to protect against the sun.

3. T-shirts: Consider wearing T-shirts in the water both as added protection from the sun and to protect against scrapes. If the group might be hard to track, consider everyone wearing a "team shirt" to find everyone more easily.

4. Beach towel: Make it a big one. You might want to bring along at least one extra for drying and keeping the car dry on the way home.

5. Sandals: Foot protection for around the pools. You may want to wear water sox in the water as well. And don't forget to wear your sandals in the showers.

6. Snacks: Food and drinks can be expensive at the water park, and you'll undoubtedly buy some anyway, so why not take a small cooler with snacks and drinks as well? Unbreakable! No glass! And use the trash cans, please.

7. Money: Getting in, buying snacks...Take extra cash and you'll be glad you did.

8. Quarters: Also money, yes, but these are especially important for lockers, arcade games, etc.

9. Coupons: Where are the coupons you have for that park? Bring them.

10. Camera: These could be some of your favorite photos of family and friends! Don't take a video camera unless you're absolutely sure you will not damage or lose it - which means, probably, leave it at home. Don't take a camera you couldn't live without.
