From the majesty of the swans and mythical dolphins sitting atop the luxury hotels to the child-and parent-friendly amenities, the Dolphin and Swan provide the perfect complement to the Walt Disney World family vacation. Inside, whimsical architectural designs are found throughout the hotels. Young children will delight at the giant dolphin and swan water fountains that are the centerpieces of the hotel lobbies. Guests walk to their rooms surrounded by beach murals. Each room door resembles a pink and white striped cabana, inviting families inside. Extra touches such as sea horse and monkey chandeliers, parrot lamps and pineapple-stenciled headboards complete the feeling of being in a special place. Beyond the rooms, a multitude of activities and adventures awaits guests of all ages. Families can start or end their day with some of Walt Disney World's favorite "celebrities." At special character breakfasts or dinners, Goofy and Pluto. Rafiki and Timon from the Lion King, or Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, too, lavish loads of Walt Disney World-style attention on their young guests as they entertain and play with the children, sign autographs and pose for individual photos. For adult "alone" time, the Dolphin and Swan offer year-round summer camps for children ages 3 to 12. After a day in the theme parks, children can join others their age at CAMP SWAN from 4pm-midnight or at CAMP DOLPHIN from 6pm-11pm. Hours of operations are extended based on need during peak "family" seasons such as spring break and summer. The camps offer supervised activities such as T-shirt painting, storybook weaving and tile art as well as listening to music and reading books. At Camp Swan there are separate television and nap rooms, and campers may order dinner from room service with menus pre-approved by their parents. The resort staffs the camp with two supervisors for every 15 children. Individualized theme parties can be arranged for special occasions and groups. Several options are available for young guests at CAMP DOLPHIN from the five-hour "Dolphin Dinner Club," which includes arts and crafts, dinner and dessert in a Dolphin's restaurant, gameroom tokens and a movie--to an eight-hour, supervised trip to one of three Disney theme parks. Supervisors are HRS certified counselors. Outside, the amusement continues with more than three acres of water fun! A toddler-sized kiddie pool, a fantastic swimming grotto with waterfalls, hidden alcoves, a water slide and a white sand beach, the perfect site to construct sand castles and other creations. In case water wings are left at home, the resorts provide life jackets. For adults, the Four Diamond-rated Dolphin and Swan offer whirlpools, saunas, lap pools and a heated wading pool. Oversized Hammocks are scattered along the beach and pool area and chair beverage service is provided by serves on rollerblades. When lunch rolls around, children have another entertaining surprise at the Dolphin's poolside Cabana Bar & Grill when they order the "lunch in a bucket." Youngsters get a special souvenir and a colorful plastic bucket and shovel that are perfect for use at the beach or in the pool. At the Swan's Splash Grill, the entire family can enjoy a poolside dinner and watch a movie or cartoon in the evening. Kids are served meals in a "take home" boat of frisbee. Children ages three and under eat for free and children ages 3 to 12 can select from special children's menus at all 11 restaurants at the Dolphin and Swan including the Dolphin Fountain with its entertaining dancers and homemade ice cream to Gulliver's Grill with its fantasy land of "tiny people and giants." For dessert, parents can enroll their children in the hour-long "LE PETITE CHEF" program at the Walt Disney World Swan, where youngsters lend a hand to help the bakery chefs whip up a batch of delicious cookies. Sampling the final product is encouraged! For families with teenagers, the Walt Disney World Dolphin and Swan offer beach volleyball, a complete video arcade, tennis courts, volleyball, ping pong and bicycle rentals. Health clubs at each hotel offer aerobics, free weights, stationary bikes, stair machines and more. At DISNEY'S FANTASIA GARDENS MINIATURE GOLF, parents and young children alike will share in the adventure of Fantasia Gardens, the 18-hole course themed after Disney's classic film Fantasia. The 18-hole Fantasia Fairways putting course will challenge older children and adults with its water hazards and sand traps. Another new addition to the Epcot Resort Area is DISNEY'S BOARDWALK. Boardwalk offers families myriad shops, entertainment and restaurants to choose from, all within a short walking distance from the resort. Best of all is the proximity to the nearby attractions of the Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot and Disney-MGM Studios, with early admission to the parks and complimentary transportation to and from the resorts.
