Brasstown Valley Resort, Georgia

BRASSTOWN VALLEY RESORT Highway 76 Young Harris, Georgia 30582 (800) 201-3205 (706) 379-9900 email: Nestled in the quiet, rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains lies Brasstown Valley. It is a place where families have spent lifetimes. Where their children grew up. Where their children's children left their roots. It's been that way for centuries. So, in keeping with this heritage, Brasstown Valley Resort was planned and designed with tradition in mind. A place where you can play as an adult, and children can be themselves. Upon arriving at Brasstown, you'll instantly notice it's been created to blend perfectly with the surrounding 503-acre forest. The lodge exterior, accented with fieldstone, tapers off into the distance along a trail of trees. Once inside the "Great Room," a 72-foot high stone fireplace stands alongside paneled walls that meet the patterned pine underfoot. Naturally shed antler chandeliers hang from the ceiling under exposed wooden beams while expansive windows offer inspiring mountain views rich with dogwoods, sycamores and hardwood oaks. A glass walkway leads you from the "Great Room" to 102 elegant rooms and suites decorated with hand-crafted twig furniture and fixtures inspired by mountain artists. Just beyond the lodge are quaint guest rooms and 8 private log cottages, each reflecting a different mountaineering motif. Taste original mountain cuisine in the resort's Dining Room. The menu changes monthly. You'll have a choice of a variety of dishes from trout and venison to pheasant and filet-mignon, with picturesque mountain views complementing every meal. For more casual dining, sample the food at McDivot's, a relaxing lunch and dinner sports pub. While there, play a friendly game of billiards or darts while watching your team play on the big screen. And after dinner, there's the Fireside Lounge, the perfect setting for storytelling and friendly conversation. Browse through the country store and golf and tennis pro shop on the way to the driving range. Then onto our 7,000-yard, championship par-72, links-style golf course. It's well-bunkered, with water coming into play on 10 holes. And with a slope rating of 134 and a course rating of 73.5, it's considered one of Georgia's finest resort golf courses. The signature 18th hole leads you back to a breathtaking view at the foot of the lodge. From there, pick up your racket and hit a few balls on any of our four lighted tennis courts. Or leave that for another day and visit our upstairs verandah. During early evening hours, it's the perfect place to sit in a rocking chair and watch the sun slide behind the mountains. There are a number of other leisure activities you can take part in. Bird watching. Horseshoes. Boating and fishing on Lake Chatuge. And nature walks on 2.7 miles of hiking trails that are part of the resort itself. For the sport fisherman, there's Brasstown Creek. It's heralded as one of the best trout fishing streams in Georgia. Other adventurous activities include nearby white water rafting, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and horseback riding. Work out in our fully equipped fitness center or take a dip in our heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool. Then treat yourself to a steam, sauna, whirlpool, or a massage. Brasstown Valley also has a seasonal MOUNTAINEER'S KIDS' CLUB supervised by trained outdoor adventurers. Children ages 5 to 17 can take part in craft making, storytelling, wildlife hikes, ancient artifact observations and other exciting programs. Located just two hours from Atlanta, Asheville, Greenville and Chattanooga, Brasstown Valley Resort offers a mountain retreat you can return to - again and again.
