With two guestrooms and an excellent innkeeper, the couple or single inn guest is assured a comfortable stay in a beautiful locale. THE INN Originally built in 1945, this home showcases a rustic interior of specially selected rough cedar, 25' open beam ceiling, 8' x 9' view window and impressive 10' x 25' natural stone fireplace. The quality of material, craftsmanship and architectural design of its builders, the Irwin-Lyons Lumber Company of North Bend, distinctively mark the era of the Bay Area's established timber industry. The retreat's bluff setting and stately Great Room combine into an idyllic atmosphere unsurpassed in its display of the inspirational beauty synonymous with the Oregon Coast, while its panoramic view of the Charleston Marina, Coos Bay Channel and Pacific Ocean envelops its guests in serenity and comfortable elegance. Being on the Pacific Migratory flyway, the retreat is a vantage point for many of the coastal native and migratory birds and sea mammals. From either the Great Room window or the desk, guests are offered the opportunity to watch these beautiful creatures co-exist and survive in their natural habitat. Guests have a choice of two rooms on the second level of the retreat. The small landing at the top of the 12-step staircase lends an overview of the massive timber beams and spacious Great Room, furnished in a living room setting with a library and cassette selection to enhance their comfort and relaxation. The large west deck provides an ideal setting for a breath of fresh ocean air and lounging with an unobstructed view of the bay's activities, as the magnificent Great Blue Heron or Egret glides by to roost in the retreat's fir trees standing at water's edge. Guests may leisurely awake to watch ships and boats set sail to sea as they partake in an extended continental breakfast served at the Great Room's antique dining table. Special diets are accommodated with prior arrangements. THE ACCOMMODATIONS THE BAY ROOM offers a queen size bed, sitting area and large private bath with separate tub and shower. Find quiet solitude on the private balcony with its magnificent harbor, channel and ocean view. THE EAST ROOM provides its guests with a double bed, sitting area and private downstairs shower bath. We invite you to relax into peaceful reflection over its second story Courtyard view. Mid-season rates are 15% less and effective November 1 through March 31. Advance reservations are recommended.
