THE LORD JEFFERY INN
30 Boltwood Avenue
Amherst, Massachusetts 01002
Built in 1926, The Lord Jeffery Inn welcomes guests in a style that recalls the gilded age of elegance and hospitality.
Forty-eight cozy, individually appointed guestrooms reflect a gracious Colonial style without sacrificing contemporary amenities. The character is one of casual elegance and simplicity. Each accommodation possesses unique character. Rooms feature traditional furniture and design, some have working fireplaces, while others offer private balconies opening onto the inn's garden courtyard.
A typical double room contains 2 double beds, a TV armoire, handmade dresser, white-blue-mauve color scheme, quilted spreads and Queen Anne end tables. The bathroom contains a tiled tub with shower, Corian sink, antique fixtures and a plentiful basket of amenities.
The Lord Jeffery Inn's Main Dining Room is an intimate, candlelit restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cookery is a blend of New American and Modern French, presented with flair and originality and an emphasis on fresh, interesting, top-quality ingredients. Roast Rack of Lamb carved tableside for two is a delicious choice. Another tableside creation not to be missed is the Chocolate Crepes, also for two.
Boltwood's Tavern--"the meeting place of Amherst"--is the inn's early American pub. Overlooking the garden, it is open each evening for casual fare, wines by the glass, cocktails, cappucino, or a casual supper.
Within walking distance of the inn you will find the Emily Dickinson Homestead, the Strong House Museum and many other galleries and museums associated with the various colleges. The inn is surrounded by an array of beautiful villages and towns, farms, rivers and fields. Pioneer Valley has all the charm and restfulness of a traditional New England community, along with the vitality, cultural and leisure attractions of a major city.
