The "New England Travel Guide" has named Whitneys' Inn the "Best Eastern Slope Family Resort." Whitneys' Inn, operating since 1936, is located at the base of Black Mountain Ski Area, one and three-quarter miles from Jackson Village, New Hampshire. Located on 14 acres, Whitneys' offers its summer guests swimming in the brook-fed pond, paddle boating, shuffle board, horseshoes, tennis, croquet, volleyball and badminton. In the snow months, guests can ski right from the door; either Nordic Skiing on the Betty Whitney Ski Trail which connects with the 156k Jackson Ski Touring Foundation, or Alpine Skiing on Blac k Mountain which was started by Bill and Betty Whitney.
Whitneys' Inn welcomes families! On Tuesday and Thursday mornings during the summer, Whitneys' offers a children's program which allows the kids to meet and play with the rest of the younger kids staying at the inn. During the evenings, a children's dinner table is available just for those under 12. A children's supervisor will sit with the children, introduce them to one another and after dinner the children are free to go to their rooms or stay with the supervisor and use the facilities or watch a movie from our free video library.
Whitneys' Inn is a 29-room country inn consisting of the Main Inn, an 1842 farm house, the Brookside building (rumored to have once been a dance hall), two cottages and the Chalet building. Each room is individually decorated and each room has a private bath with a tub and a shower. Whitneys' offers a full-service restaurant and lounge in the Main Inn and an Apres Ski Pub, named the Shovel Handle after the first overhead ski lift in the East used on Whitneys' Hill, during Ski Season.
The Restaurant at Whitneys', supervised by Chef Kirstin Johnson, offers a complete children's menu along with an adult menu of items ranging from Classic New England Fare to American Cuisine. Each Wednesday evening during the summer, Whitneys' offers it pond-side lobster bake with live entertainment. The restaurant has been recommended by both Ski Magazine and Bon Apetit.|
