THE HOME RANCH

Tall aspens swaying in a winter breeze- fresh as the sparkling Rocky Mountains that tower behind. A blissful day of skiing, riding or hiking, followed by a delicious soak in a private jacuzzi under the Colorado stars. These are just a few of the pleasures guests will discover at The Home Ranch. Sprawling in rustic elegance at the northern end of the breathtaking Elk River Valley, this ideal wilderness retreat welcomes guests with a gracious combination of western warmth, creature comforts, and lively outdoor activity during both the summer and winter seasons.
In the Main House, a cozy fire glows in the large fireplace, and soft leather couches beckon one to sit awhile and enjoy a book from the well-stocked library. The antique grand piano in the corner awaits the music from your hands.
Private guest cabins feature wrap-around front porches with hot tubs and superb views of the mountains and valleys. Each cabin is uniquely furnished with antiques, Indian rugs, original artwork, down comforters, robes and coffee makers. Roomy tile bathrooms are accented with special hand-made tiles, big mirrors and excellent light.
Chef Clyde Nelson's gourmet western fare is critically acclaimed. Hearty Mexican chowders, fresh salads, grilled salmon steaks, and other Home Ranch specialties would be wonderful anywhere, but in this mountain setting they take on a special flavor. Breakfast is laid out in "Cowboy" china, dinner in Wedgewood.
The sauna and heated lap pool add to the luxury of this stunning mountain hideaway, set amidst 1,000,000 acres of National Forest & Wilderness Area. Exhilarating activities include the challenging Treasure Hunt, feeding horses from a sleigh, fly fishing in the ranch's trout-stocked pond, and hiking with the ranch guide.
