Built in the high Victorian style that prevailed just before the turn of the century, with 12-foot ceilings and window treatments to match, it is replete with classic Victorian furnishings, and reflects all the opulence of that era. The hotel has undergone a major renovation and has been updated with full baths, direct-dial telephones, cable TV and air conditioners. It still presents the original facade of ornamental brickwork and three-story Victorian columns with elaborate fretwork at the top, and retains the aura of the era. The hotel is now spoken of as the legendary Adelphi. Guest rooms are, by present standards, unusually large, and individually decorated with a variety of wall coverings and color schemes. Suites are furnished in Adirondack style with original Stickley mission oak furniture, period Arts and Crafts wall coverings and photographs. There are several dining rooms: One with a wrap-around wall mural, and another with elaborately stenciled ceilings. The dinner menu lists a number of grilled items, and for dessert offers pastries for which the hotel is famous. The bar, Cafe Adelphi, serves a special house drink, a blended fruit daiquiri. The garden court, which was a popular meeting place when the Adelphi was the center of social life, is part of the Cafe. Saratoga Springs is a charming town to stroll through, and guests of the hotel find interesting antique shops and restaurants. Also of interest is the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the Saratoga Raceway, and several large and small museums. Recently a beautifully landscaped outdoor pool has been installed.
